PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Airbrush Tanning Pre-treatment instructions
We are looking forward to your upcoming visit at LEMON + LEIGH. Here are some tips to prepare for your airbrush tan
- Do not wear make-up, lotion, or deodorant before your spray tan
- Do not use a self-tan product before your spray tan, especially Jergens Glow. All of these self-tan products will change the color of your luxury spray tan and may cause it to look streaky. If you have already applied a self-tanner, please scrub all of it off before your spray tan appointment
- Exfoliate 8 to 24 hours before your spray tan for the best outcome. Use an exfoliation glove or a washcloth and a paraben free soap.
- Your legs should be shaved 8 to 24 hours before your tan. If less than 8-24 hours, please shave and follow with a cold rinse to close the pores.
- If planning on having a manicure and/or pedicure, do so before your spray tan session.Be sure to not leave anything on your skin. This includes soap residue, shaving cream residue, lotion, body oil, and sunscreen. If you have fresh, clean, clear skin, your spray tan is going to absorb better and last longer.
- Wear very loose, dark clothing to your spray tan appointment. Avoid putting on a bra right after your session, while your spray tan is still developing. Loose swimsuit cover-ups, sundresses, large T-shirts, and drawstring shorts or pants are perfect choices. Yoga pants or tight clothes will rub against your new spray tan, so leave the form-fitting clothes at home.
- Women may undress to their comfort level. Men must wear boxers or briefs.
Botox & Dermal Filler Pre-treatment instructions
We are looking forward to your upcoming visit at LEMON + LEIGH. Please review our pre-treatment instructions.
- Do NOT consume alcoholic beverages at least 24 hours prior to treatment (alcohol may thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising)

Medications and supplements such as aspirin, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, Omega 3/Fish Oil supplements, Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Aleve and other NSAIDS have a blood thinning effect and can increase the risk of bruising and swelling after injections.
- We recommend doing Botox or Filler 6 weeks prior to big events.
- Please inform us if going out of town in next two weeks.
- Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you have a rash, cold sore, blemish on the area or currently taking antibiotics
- You are not a candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Laser PRP Pre-treatment instructions
We are looking forward to your upcoming visit at LEMON + LEIGH. Please review our pre-treatment instructions.
Before Your Injection
What you consume prior to your injection can affect your blood quality when it’s extracted. Ideally, you’ll want to keep a healthy diet that maintains a good level of platelets in your blood and avoid anything that can hinder your inflammation response, which is necessary for the PRP’s proteins and peptides to work and stimulate your hair follicles.
What to Eat
Here are some of the dietary restrictions to keep in mind when choosing food to eat. Avoid eating anything at least 4 hours before your appointment.
1) No-Fat Diet
Doctors recommend eating a low-fat or no-fat diet at least 12 hours before your blood is drawn. This can affect the amount of cholesterol in your blood (which can lead to poor circulation) as well as your body’s inflammatory response. Some foods low in fat include:
- Leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, lettuce, etc. – these can also improve your platelet count
- Fruits
- Beans and legumes
- Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, etc.
- Mushrooms
- Garlic
- White, lean fish like cod (except cod liver oil), haddock, and perch – these are best baked or broiled
2) Increase Your Water Intake
Drink plenty of water at least 2 hours before your blood extraction. Ideally, you should be drinking ½ of your body weight in ounces in the days leading up to your PRP treatment. This can help you maintain a healthy heart rate and blood pressure, which can minimize your discomfort and improve your blood quality before extraction. Keeping your body hydrated can also improve your scalp by keeping it hydrated, preventing dryness that can risk brittle hair.
What to Avoid
Ideally, you should avoid most of these at least 3 days before your blood extraction to get the best results. If you are taking maintenance medication that’s part of this list, talk to your doctor or aesthetic provider to see if you’re still qualified to undergo PRP treatment for your hair.
1) Anti-Inflammatory Medication
PRP therapy works through your body’s inflammatory response, so medications that stop these cano hinder the effects of your PRP treatment. This includes:
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil, Ibuprofen, Celebrex, etc. (For pain relief, take a low dose of aspirin.)
- Herbal medication like turmeric, garlic capsules, arnica, etc.
- Antibiotics
2) Platelet Inhibitor Medications
Antiplatelet medications prevent your blood from clotting by affecting how your platelets function. This can render them ineffective when they’re injected into your scalp. If you’re taking
medicines like Warfarin, Ticlid, Plavix, Effient, Brilinta, etc., see your prescribing physician if it’s safe to stop taking these medications. You should stop at least 2 days before your blood extraction.
3) Alcoholic Drinks
Alcohol is a blood thinner and can prevent clotting. This can affect the quality of your platelet-rich plasma when it’s extracted. Ideally, you should avoid alcohol one week before your PRP therapy, though some providers may recommend at least three days before your treatment.
On top of this, alcohol can make you more sensitive to pain. This means that extraction, injections, and the microneedling process (if you’re having microneedling with PRP done) can feel more uncomfortable than it usually is. Its blood-thinning effects can also promote side effects like bleeding and bruising.
4) Fish Oil
Fish oil can reduce inflammation and can prevent blood clotting – the two functions necessary for PRP therapy. This is why doctors recommend avoiding fish oil at least 3 days before your injections. Aside from fish oil capsules, avoid fatty and oily fish rich in fish oil, including:
- Mackerel
- Salmon
- Cod liver oil
- Herring
- Oysters
- Sardines
- Anchovies
5) Sugary, Processed, and Fat-Filled Foods
You’ll want to maintain a healthy diet in the days leading up to your treatment. Processed foods rich in fat and sugar can affect your blood quality by adding too much cholesterol into your blood, producing poor circulation, and affecting your hormone levels which can affect your platelet count.
After Your Injection
Following your treatment, what you consume can affect your healing process as well as how effective platelets can regenerate cells around your hair follicles and scalp. Inflammation is expected after treatment and should last less than one week before it subsides.
What to Eat
You should eat food rich in the following nutrients. Alternatively, consult your doctor if you can take supplements.
- Zinc – red meat, shellfish, legumes
- Magnesium – whole grains, leafy green vegetables, dairy
- Potassium – leafy green vegetables, nuts, dairy
- Sulfur – poultry & eggs, fish, nuts
- B Vitamins – dairy, organ meats (liver, kidney, etc.), fish
- Vitamin C – citrus fruits, bell peppers, cruciferous vegetables
- Vitamin D – oily fish, red meat, organ meats
- Protein – lean meat, poultry, lentils
- Fish Oil – fish oil capsules, fatty and oily fish, cod liver oil
Non-Blood Thinning Pain Relievers
In case you experience some discomfort after your treatment and need over-the-counter pain relief, you can take non-NSAID pain relievers like paracetamol. This can prevent worsening side effects like bleeding and bruising on the treatment area and the blood extraction site.

POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Aftercare Airbrush Tan
Thank you for visiting LEMON + LEIGH! Please find the post care instructions below. If you have any questions, please email us at info@lemonandleigh.com. If you are having an emergency, call 911 or our emergency number at 817-382-7561.
- Do not shower or sweat excessively for the next (Rapid- 4 hours) 8 hours after your spray tan.
- The first shower after your spray tan should be with cool water and no soap. You may see the tanning bronzer rinse off. Don’t worry, your spray tan will still be on your skin. It’s just the body bronzer that’s rinsing off.
- Do not shave for the first twelve hours after your spray tan and first shower. If you must, use a fresh razor.
- Use a body wash that is mild and sulfate-free. Sulfates will strip off a spray tan. So will harsh soaps like anti-bacterial soaps.
- Avoid putting things on your skin that are drying or bleaching like chlorine and alcohol. This includes perfume. Use sparingly on wrists and behind ear
- Avoid wearing tight clothing as much as possible. If you are wearing skintight jeans, workout bras, and tops that are form fitting, constantly rubbing on the surface of the skin, you’re going to rub off your spray tan. Come prepared to your session with loose fitting clothes and flip-flops to wear home.
- The most important thing that you can do to make your spray tan last longer is to moisturize twice every day with a spray tan friendly moisturizer. Be very careful to avoid any products that contain mineral oil, which will strip off your color. Hydrated skin ensures that the spray tan will be even and will stay on your skin as long as possible.
- REMEMBER – your Spray Tan does not contain an SPF, please wear an oil-free protection.

- If you develop sensitivity you can use SensodyneTM toothpaste to ease the discomfort
- After the treatment, it is natural for teeth color to regress somewhat over time. This is normal and should be gradual, but it can be accelerated by exposing the teeth to various staining agents, such as coffee, tea, tobacco, red wine, colas, citrus drinks, fruits, etc.
- Do not eat or drink anything except water for the first hour after the treatment because the gel opens the pores of the enamel and makes the teeth very vulnerable to staining agents. You can resume your everyday habits 24 hours after your treatment. Also, be aware that drinks and food are not the only things that can stain our teeth when the pores are open; lipstick/lip gloss, for example, can stain to
